Puerto Rico is always an incredible trip! There is something for everyone and all the locals are warm and hospitable. On our first evening, we went on an amazing food and walking tour of old San Juan (Flavors of San Juan). We tasted local coffee, fresh popsicles, and even made our own mofongo!
Our next day was our only free day. We spent the morning exploring the main fort (El Moro) which is rich with history. After trying out some local shaved ice treats to beat the heat I hit the Condado beach, where I ate empanadas and tanned the afternoon away.
Day three was filled with adventure and a hike in the famous rainforest, El Yunque. We swam under waterfalls, jumped off cliffs, and saw some amazing flora and fauna. We ate lunch on the side of the highway where we tried local delicacies like grilled-rabbit (delish!).
At 5:00am on day four, we set out on another excursion, a ferry to the island of Culebra! We snorkeled off the coast of Flamenco Beach and took photos with the abandoned military tanks– a popular tourist spot in an otherwise secluded beach hideaway.
Overall PR has yet again surpassed all of my expectations. If you’re going don’t forget to also book a kayak tour on the fluorescent bio bay in Fajardo! Truly a magical experience to end a wonderful vacation.
